Ajman April 09 2018: Amin Saifullah Bhatkal Premiere League finally came to a successful conclusion on Friday April 06 as the DVS United won the league for the first time in its history against NGT Strikers here in Ajman.
Batting first after winning the toss in the final, NGT Strikers put on a respectable total of 166-7 in their 20 overs only to be chased down by the DVS United to lift the trophy in the second innings with 5 deliveries to spare.
However during the final match what surprised many cricketing pundits is NGT Strikers overlooking one of their most consistent bowler Taha Muallim, who did not bowl a single over in as important match as the tournament finale. When everyone thought the experienced Taha will bowl the final over when DVS required 4 runs off the last over, The logic behind not bowling Taha still remains a mystery and has kept the fans guessing if Taha had bowled a few overs in the match, had the results been in favour of NGT Strikers?
Imran Khateeb for his match winning knock in the final earned him Man of the Match award while Ubadah Barmawar bagged Man of the tournament and Best Batsman award, Mohtasim Jakti received Best Bowler of the tournament award.
The trophy drought of the DVS franchise finally ended as the franchise secured the tournament after failing several earlier attempts at the trophy, this would have pleased their stakeholders.
Safdar Batin also received a recognition award for ‘Outstanding Contribution in Bhatkal Cricket’ while many others officials were also awarded for their role in making the tournament successful.
All in all it is the spirit of our youngsters who is the ultimate winner, and all the GC members, and stakeholders of the tournament will agree to it.
Bhatkalsports.com congratulate the management, teams, GC members and everyone who contributed in the tournament for successfully hosting it in UAE, and wishes to see more of the tournament in years to come.
On behalf of all those who enjoyed the tournament, Bhatkalsports.com thank Ateequr-Rahman Muniri and Amin Saifullah in making the tournament happen and for being the backbone of the tournament while expecting the same in years ahead.
